Skipper Meg Lanning’s quick start and Deepti Sharma’s solid 55 off 43 balls helped UP Warriorz reach 143/8 in 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League match. Lanning and Deepti’s strong opening partnership of 50 runs in the Power-play set a good foundation for UPW.
This was UP Warriorz’s first 50-plus opening stand in seven innings this season. Despite a promising start, Lanning was dismissed for 41 by Nadine de Klerk, breaking the opening pair’s 74-run partnership. Amy Jones, making her debut, had a tough outing, losing her wicket early.
Deepti Sharma played a crucial role, holding the innings together as wickets fell around her. She reached a 40-ball fifty but fell in the penultimate over after raising her bat. UP Warriorz ended at 143/8, with Lanning’s aggressive start and Deepti’s stability being the highlights of their innings.
