UP Warriorz introduced their new jersey for the upcoming Women’s Premier League season, blending Banarasi textile traditions with high-performance sports. The jersey, named “A Blooming Rebellion,” is a collaboration with Ekaya Banaras, combining modern sports design with traditional craftsmanship. It features Banarasi-inspired motifs symbolizing strength, tradition, and renewal, tailored for elite T20 cricket.
The design draws inspiration from Banaras’ floral heritage and Ekaya’s weaving expertise, reimagining cultural motifs in a contemporary, performance-oriented style. The jersey aims to celebrate culture, identity, and modern femininity, reflecting women’s heritage with confidence and independence. It emphasizes comfort, mobility, and a unique visual identity, instilling a sense of belonging and purpose in players.
UP Warriorz will don the jersey in the upcoming Women’s Premier League season, with fans able to purchase official merchandise. The team’s first match is scheduled against Gujarat Giants on January 10 at the DY Patil Stadium. The tournament kicks off on January 9, featuring Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the curtain raiser.
Formerly led by Alyssa Healy, UP Warriorz made changes for the new season, appointing Meg Lanning as the captain after releasing Healy in the mega-auction. Lanning, a former Australia and Delhi Capitals skipper, aims to lead the team to victory, having been a runner-up three times with her previous team.
