The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced a significant change in the evaluation process for the Civil Services (Preliminary) examination 2026. The Commission will now share the provisional answer keys with candidates right after the exams. This move has been praised by the UPSC chairman as a positive step towards transparency and addressing candidates’ concerns.
UPSC, the key body responsible for conducting Civil Services Examinations, aims to enhance transparency and maintain high standards in the examination process. UPSC chairman Ajay Kumar emphasized that this decision reflects the Commission’s commitment to transparency, responsiveness, and effective communication with candidates. He believes it will encourage greater participation while preserving the integrity and merit-based nature of the exams.
The Civil Services examinations, conducted annually by UPSC in three stages – preliminary, mains, and interview, select top officers for various services like IAS, IPS, and IFS. This year, the civil services (preliminary) exam is set for May 24. Candidates now have the opportunity to raise objections and submit representations until May 31 through the ‘Online Question Paper Representation Portal (QPRep).’ They can provide their objections, along with supporting documents from three credible sources, for expert review.
