US Ambassador Sergio Gor expressed strong confidence in the imminent finalization of a significant bilateral trade agreement between Washington and New Delhi. At the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Annual Leadership Summit, Ambassador Gor emphasized President Trump’s aim to boost bilateral trade for American businesses and workers. He highlighted the progress in trade discussions, with recent visits by Indian and US delegations to facilitate the agreement.
The Ambassador emphasized the potential benefits of the trade deal, including enhanced market access, reduced barriers, and increased certainty for businesses in both countries. He underlined the agreement’s potential to strengthen supply chains, attract new investments, and drive inclusive growth for industries and economies. Despite acknowledging the time spent on negotiations, Gor expressed optimism about finalizing the deal in the coming weeks and months, citing the positive trajectory of discussions.
Gor also noted the growing economic ties between India and the US, with Indian companies pledging over USD 20 billion in investments in the US. He highlighted the US Embassy in India’s role in facilitating global investment commitments. Additionally, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal mentioned the upcoming visit of a US delegation for further trade talks, following active discussions between Indian and US officials in Washington, D.C.
