US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor criticized Reuters for spreading misinformation regarding the India-US trade discussions. Gor emphasized that both sides had productive meetings and were committed to finalizing a trade deal. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also dismissed the report as “completely false” and “baseless.”
Gor took to social media to refute the claim that India had rejected a swift trade agreement with the US. He urged Reuters to improve its reporting standards. Goyal echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the positive nature of the discussions and the commitment to a balanced and beneficial trade agreement.
Negotiations for a mutually advantageous trade deal between India and the US are progressing positively, according to Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. He highlighted that both countries are actively engaged in discussions and moving in the right direction. Gor expressed confidence that the trade agreement, which is in its final stages, will soon be concluded after extensive negotiations.
