US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, met with Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) governor Sanjay Malhotra in Mumbai to discuss areas of increased cooperation. Gor also visited the US Consulate during his first trip to the financial capital.
During the meeting, Gor mentioned that they discussed enhancing cooperation, particularly in utilizing new state-of-the-art US technology. He also revealed plans to invite India to join Pax Silica, a US-led strategic technology initiative focusing on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and critical supply chains.
Gor emphasized the active engagement between India and the United States on trade matters, with upcoming discussions anticipated. He highlighted the ongoing momentum in trade discussions between the two countries, with follow-up meetings scheduled soon to delve deeper into the agenda.
Describing Pax Silica as a recent US-led initiative aimed at establishing a secure and innovation-driven silicon supply chain, Gor noted that countries like Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Israel have already joined the initiative. He stressed the importance of early collaboration between India and the US as new technologies shape the future.
