Five civilians lost their lives in US attacks on cargo boats, as reported by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. The US military claimed to have targeted six Iranian speedboats, but after verification, it was revealed that two small civilian cargo boats were attacked. These boats were en route from Khasab along the Omani coast to Iran when the incident occurred.
Brad Cooper, the chief of US Central Command, stated that US forces sank six Iranian small boats in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian boats were struck by US Apache and MH-60 Seahawk helicopters during the attack. Additionally, two US Navy destroyers successfully navigated through the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Gulf despite facing threats from Iran.
US President Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox News, mentioned that Iran would face severe consequences if they targeted US ships in the Strait of Hormuz. However, Trump refrained from stating that Iran’s attacks had violated the US-Iran ceasefire agreement.
