The killing of a Hindu garment worker in Bangladesh has sparked outrage among Hindu advocacy groups based in the United States. The Hindu American Political Action Committee expressed concern over the murder of Dipu Chandra Das, highlighting the plight of religious minorities in Bangladesh. US elected officials have also voiced condemnation over the incident, emphasizing the need for better protection of Hindus and other minority groups.

The advocacy groups shared statements from lawmakers, including Congressmen Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ro J. Khanan, Suhas Subramanyam, Shri Thanedar, and New York Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar, who denounced the brutal killing. According to reports, Das was publicly lynched on December 18, 2025, in a shocking act of violence that has drawn global attention. He was reportedly beaten, stripped, hung in a public square, and set on fire.

Das’ tragic death was allegedly triggered by his statement advocating for religious equality, where he proclaimed that “all religions are the same.” Described as a Hindu garment worker, his killing has raised concerns about religious freedom and minority rights in Bangladesh. The incident has underscored the ongoing challenges faced by religious minorities in the country, prompting calls for international intervention to address the escalating violence.

Hindu advocacy groups, including the Hindu American PAC and HinduPact, have called for urgent action to address the broader pattern of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. They have urged international bodies, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to intervene and address the deteriorating human rights situation in the country. The killing of Das has shed light on the escalating persecution faced by religious minorities in Bangladesh, prompting calls for immediate attention from the global community.
