United States Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade William Kimmitt and officials from the International Trade Administration visited Bengaluru this week. The visit is part of preparations for the 2026 India AI Impact Summit. During their time in Bengaluru on February 17, they engaged with representatives from US and Indian tech companies to explore AI integration in business operations.
The delegation’s itinerary included visits to organizations like Chevron Engine, Google DeepMind, South Park Commons, and Biocon. Kimmitt expressed appreciation for Bengaluru’s tech innovation hub and highlighted the potential of the emerging US-India trade agreement. He emphasized the importance of strengthening technology partnerships between the two countries.
In addition to industry engagements, Kimmitt and Admiral Samuel Paparo participated in a roundtable discussion on defense cooperation in emerging technologies. The focus was on promoting technology exports and enhancing industrial collaboration between the US and India. The delegation also includes other high-ranking officials from the ITA.
Following their Bengaluru visit, Kimmitt and the delegation are set to attend the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The summit will showcase the American AI Exports Program, aiming to boost the export of AI technology packages globally. The program includes various components like computing hardware, AI models, cybersecurity systems, and sector-specific applications.
