The US State Department has denounced the recent religious violence in Bangladesh, particularly highlighting the lynching of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu garment worker, as “horrific.” Emphasizing support for religious freedom and peaceful coexistence, US officials have urged strong condemnation of such acts of hatred.

In response to the tragic killing of Das and the series of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, the State Department expressed firm opposition to all forms of religious violence. It also acknowledged the efforts of the Bangladeshi Interim Government to enhance safety and security for all communities in the country.

The condemnation from the State Department comes amidst mounting concerns in Washington and advocacy circles regarding the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh. The killing of Dipu Chandra Das has sparked broader discussions on the security challenges faced by minority groups in the country.

US Congressman Ro Khanna has joined the chorus of voices condemning the brutal killing, labeling it as “horrific.” He stressed the need for unequivocal condemnation of religious hatred and bigotry, calling for solidarity against such despicable acts.

The tragic incident involving Dipu Chandra Das, a 27-year-old garment worker from Bhaluka, has raised alarms about the situation of religious minorities in Bangladesh, particularly the Hindu community. Reports indicate a surge in attacks on minority groups, including instances of mob violence and intimidation across various regions.

Advocacy groups have highlighted the escalating violence against minorities in Bangladesh, pointing to a concerning trend of targeted attacks and vandalism. The State Department’s response underscores the US commitment to promoting religious freedom and safeguarding the rights of minority communities globally.

US officials have reiterated that protecting religious freedom and minority rights is a fundamental aspect of American foreign policy. They have emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement to address concerns related to religious violence and ensure the security of all communities in Bangladesh.
