The United States conducted 573 air and drone strikes from January 20, 2025, to January 5, 2026, surpassing the total strikes during Biden’s four-year term. When including coalition operations, the number rose to 658, compared to 494 strikes and 694 coalition operations under Biden.
According to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), the US engaged in 1,008 military events in multiple countries over the past year, resulting in around 1,093 fatalities. This figure is lower than the 1,518 deaths recorded during Biden’s entire term from 1,648 events.
Notably, more than 80% of the strikes targeted Yemen’s Houthi rebels, resulting in over 530 deaths between January and December. ACLED described Trump’s approach as a “strike first, ask questions later” strategy, emphasizing rapid and high-impact military actions with fewer constraints.
The CEO of ACLED, Clionadh Raleigh, highlighted the US administration’s challenge to conventional power constraints, particularly in recent operations in countries like Venezuela and Nigeria. Raleigh cautioned against viewing places like Greenland, Colombia, and Cuba as mere assets for control, urging respect for their sovereignty and political autonomy.
