US forces have carried out additional strikes on Iranian military targets, as confirmed by the US Central Command. The recent airstrikes, which commenced at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, aim to further diminish Iran’s capacity to pose threats to civilian mariners and commercial vessels in regional waters. President Donald Trump had earlier issued a warning that the US would retaliate by destroying a bridge or power plant in Iran for each attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s main military command, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, responded by cautioning that any US assault on Iranian infrastructure would result in the blocking of all oil exports from West Asia. Additionally, Iran threatened to target oil, gas, electricity, and economic infrastructure throughout the region. The military command emphasized that ongoing threats from the US could escalate the conflict in the region and potentially beyond.

A recent poll by The Washington Post-Ipsos revealed that 68% of US adults believed that engaging in a war with Iran would not be justifiable, while 28% expressed the opposite view. Following the initial strikes, the United States conducted further attacks on Iran late Tuesday, prompting air defenses to be activated over Tehran. In response, Iran launched a missile strike targeting a Jordanian city near Israel’s border, leading to heightened alerts in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
