The US Southern Command announced that US forces have attacked and sunk a suspected drug-trafficking boat in the eastern Pacific, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and one survivor. The command revealed that the vessel was linked to designated terrorist organizations and was confirmed to be involved in drug trafficking activities along established routes in the region.
This recent incident marks one of over 50 lethal airstrikes conducted by the US military on suspected drug-trafficking vessels since early September, leading to the reported deaths of nearly 200 individuals. The US Southern Command reported that in a separate operation earlier, three individuals were killed in an attack on another alleged drug-trafficking boat in the same region.
Furthermore, the US military had previously targeted a drug-trafficking boat in the Caribbean, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Similarly, on April 26, the US Southern Command reported another strike on a vessel engaged in narco-trafficking operations in the eastern Pacific, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Throughout these operations, no US military personnel sustained any injuries.
