The US military has highlighted the significant role of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies in its recent military actions against Iran. Admiral Bradley Cooper, leading US military operations in the Middle East, mentioned the active use of AI tools to process vast amounts of battlefield information for quicker decision-making. Cooper stressed that human oversight remains crucial, stating that humans are always involved in the decision-making process.

Cooper, along with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Air Force General Dan Caine, discussed the recent operations and the current ceasefire phase. The US officials described the use of AI, cyber operations, space-based systems, and unmanned platforms, without providing specific operational details. Cooper also mentioned the adaptation of enemy technology for US use, including modified drones originally designed by Iran.

The integration of advanced technologies like AI is part of a broader effort to enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness across the battlefield. Despite the ceasefire, US forces are maintaining high readiness levels, utilizing the period to enhance capabilities by rearming, retooling, and adjusting tactics. Air Force General Caine affirmed the joint force’s readiness to quickly resume major combat operations if necessary.

The Pentagon noted that the emphasis on AI and advanced systems signifies a broader shift in US military doctrine towards data-driven operations and multi-domain integration. Cooper highlighted the importance of combining technological innovation with human expertise, emphasizing the crucial role of service members in interpreting data and making decisions in complex environments.
