A team of US officials is set to visit India in the upcoming month for bilateral trade discussions, as confirmed by Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. The visit aims to further the ongoing trade talks between the two nations. In April, India’s Commerce Ministry officials visited Washington for meetings to finalize an interim trade pact preceding a broader bilateral trade agreement.
India anticipates the US team’s visit in the near future, with Agrawal expressing engagement in trade discussions with the US. The agreement is expected to be signed at an appropriate time to benefit both countries. US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, emphasized the Trump administration’s dedication to enhancing trade and investment relations with India.
Ambassador Gor highlighted the commitment to expanding trade opportunities, reducing regulatory barriers, and encouraging Indian investments in the US. The US has seen increased investments under President Trump’s leadership, with Indian companies planning substantial investments across various sectors like technology, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.
India and the US have made progress on crucial trade matters such as market access, technical barriers, and investment promotion. The recent negotiations in Washington focused on finalizing details of the interim trade agreement. Both countries expressed positivity and a willingness to maintain momentum for further progress in their trade discussions.
