US President Donald Trump extended warm wishes to India on its 77th Republic Day, highlighting the strong historic bond between the two nations as the “world’s oldest and largest democracies.” The US Embassy in India conveyed Trump’s message via the social media platform X.

Trump expressed his congratulations to the government and people of India, emphasizing the enduring relationship between the United States and India as longstanding democracies. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also greeted India on Republic Day, expressing eagerness to collaborate on common goals in the upcoming year.

India commemorates Republic Day annually on January 26, marking the adoption of its Constitution in 1950 and its transformation into a sovereign democratic republic. The day is celebrated with ceremonial events in New Delhi, including a national parade, underscoring constitutional principles and democratic values.

Prime Minister Modi and President Trump recently discussed bilateral ties and global developments during a phone call, affirming their commitment to enhancing trade relations and collaborating for global peace, stability, and prosperity. The leaders reviewed progress in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, focusing on cooperation in critical technologies, energy, defense, and security.
