US President Donald Trump is set to have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi before joining a working lunch with G7 leaders, outreach partners, and top technology executives. The discussions between the two leaders will focus on various topics including economic growth, supply chains, artificial intelligence, investment partnerships, and global security challenges. Earlier, PM Modi and President Trump greeted each other during a G7 Summit outreach session in Evian, France.
Both leaders engaged in a brief conversation and shook hands before participating in the G7 working session themed ‘Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity’. The meeting, scheduled before the working lunch, will be attended by G7 leaders, outreach partners, and technology executives. PM Modi expressed his anticipation of meeting world leaders in Evian and discussing critical global issues upon his arrival.
India has been invited as a partner country to the 52nd G7 Summit, taking place from June 15 to 17. Prime Minister Modi will interact with global leaders on matters significant to India and the Global South during the summit. This marks India’s 13th participation at the G7 Summit and Prime Minister Modi’s 7th consecutive involvement. The days of June 16 and 17 are dedicated to outreach sessions, where PM Modi will engage with other invited nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted that the discussions during the summit will focus on renewing international partnerships, promoting development solidarity, achieving balanced growth, and implementing artificial intelligence effectively. India’s consistent presence at the G7 Summits underscores its growing recognition in addressing global challenges related to peace, security, development, and environmental sustainability. Through various international forums, including the G20 and the Voice of Global South Summit, India has consistently advocated for the priorities and developmental aspirations of the Global South.
