US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss the ongoing advancements in bilateral cooperation. Rubio extended an invitation from President Donald Trump for PM Modi to visit the White House in the near future. Both leaders emphasized the commitment to working together for global welfare.
PM Modi highlighted the sustained progress in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership during the meeting. The discussions encompassed various sectors such as defense, strategic technologies, trade, investment, energy security, connectivity, education, and people-to-people ties. Secretary Rubio also shared the US perspective on regional and global issues, including the situation in West Asia.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s support for peace efforts and emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. He requested Secretary Rubio to convey warm regards to President Trump and expressed eagerness for continued exchanges between the two nations. US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, described the discussions as productive and highlighted the significance of India as a vital partner to the United States.
Rubio’s visit to India, part of a four-day itinerary covering Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi, is seen as diplomatically significant. The trip includes planned energy discussions and meetings involving ministers from the Quad nations. India is preparing to host the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, with participation from Australia, Japan, and the United States. Rubio’s visit aims to strengthen the India-USA Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
