US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has disclosed that the Trump administration is actively working on organizing President Donald Trump’s visit to India in the early part of next year. Rubio, in an interview, mentioned his expectation to travel to India before the year ends to pave the way for the President’s visit. He expressed optimism about the growing momentum in India-US relations as they near the conclusion of a bilateral trade agreement.
Rubio indicated that efforts are underway to ensure Trump’s visit to India early next year. He highlighted the strong position of the India-US relationship, especially after the recent meeting between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 Summit. Rubio also mentioned the positive progress in the ongoing trade negotiations between the two countries, stating that they are close to finalizing a trade deal.
The Secretary of State emphasized the significance of the India-US partnership, describing India as one of America’s closest allies. He praised the close relationship between the Prime Minister and the President, underscoring its importance in diplomatic ties. Rubio also mentioned the anticipation of another meeting of the Quad leaders in the near future, showcasing the commitment to strengthening regional cooperation.
President Trump’s last visit to India was in February 2020, where he participated in the “Namaste Trump” rally in Ahmedabad and held talks with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi. Since then, both leaders have maintained regular engagement to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, defense, and technology. The United States and India, along with Japan and Australia, form the Quad, focusing on regional security, critical technologies, and maritime security.
