US Vice President JD Vance lauded American sailors for quickly restoring the venue of the US Navy’s 250th anniversary celebrations following severe weather damage. Speaking aboard the USS Kearsarge in New York Harbor, Vance disclosed that a storm had hit the venue on the eve of the Independence Day event, almost causing significant disruption. Despite this, the sailors managed to rebuild everything within 12 hours, ensuring the event proceeded smoothly.
Vance’s remarks at the event, attended by sailors, Marines, Coast Guard personnel, veterans, Gold Star families, and invited guests, were met with applause. He expressed gratitude to the service members aboard the amphibious assault ship for their dedication and service in safeguarding the nation. Additionally, Vance acknowledged the presence of Wounded Warriors and Gold Star families at the ceremony, along with New York’s police officers and firefighters.
The Vice President also recognized Admiral Caudle and Acting Secretary Cow for their leadership in organizing the event and conveyed greetings from President Donald Trump. He emphasized the revival of a proud naval tradition by the President as the country celebrated 250 years of American daring and naval excellence. Vance described the anniversary as a tribute to both military service and the nation’s history, urging all Americans to contribute to the future of the country.
