The USA Ambassador to India, Sergio Mor, had a meeting with ICC chairman Jay Shah at the Wankhede Stadium during the T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and the USA. Expressing pleasure about the encounter, Mor highlighted the growth of cricket in the USA, emphasizing their infrastructure, talented players, and dedicated fans. Additionally, Mor also interacted with Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani during the event.
In the game, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav played a remarkable unbeaten innings of 84 runs, while pacer Mohammad Siraj, a last-minute replacement, took 3 wickets for 29 runs, aiding India in securing a 29-run victory over the USA. Despite challenges like the withdrawal of all-rounder Harshit Rana due to injury and Jasprit Bumrah’s absence due to illness, India, as defending champions, managed to meet expectations and clinch their first win in Group A.
Led by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a half-century in his captaincy debut in the T20 World Cup, India posted a total of 161/9. Following this, Siraj’s two-wicket haul, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel’s contributions, restricted the USA to 132/9 in 20 overs. With Siraj claiming 3-29, Arshdeep taking 2-18, and Axar securing 2-24, India emerged victorious in the match at the Wankhede Stadium.
