Retiring Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja expressed gratitude towards his parents for their sacrifices during his childhood, as he bid farewell after playing 88 Test matches. Khawaja, in a press conference, humorously asked his father if 88 matches were enough, acknowledging the significant changes his family underwent when they moved to Australia for a better life.

Before the fifth Test at the SCG, Khawaja elaborated on the deeper significance of his father’s sacrifices, highlighting the challenges they faced after relocating to Australia. Despite the initial struggles with finances and emotions, Khawaja emphasized his appreciation for his parents’ decisions, which paved the way for his successful cricket career representing Australia.

Reflecting on his journey, Khawaja acknowledged the hardships his family endured in the early days in Australia, noting the difficulties his father faced in finding employment. He expressed immense gratitude towards his parents, recognizing that no number of Test matches could truly quantify the extent of their sacrifices and the joy his cricketing achievements brought to his father over the years.
