Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath initiated the first phase of Census 2027 in the state, emphasizing the importance of accurate data for comprehensive development. During the launch event at his residence, he kickstarted the house listing and housing census under the theme ‘Hamari Janaganana, Hamara Vikas.’
CM Yogi highlighted that the census is not just about population count but serves as a crucial groundwork for inclusive and well-planned progress. He urged all residents to actively participate in the Census, ensuring precise information provision to facilitate holistic growth at the state and national levels.
Emphasizing the significance of data-driven decisions in the current era, the Chief Minister underscored the pivotal role of accurate census data in effectively implementing infrastructure, education, healthcare, social security, and public welfare schemes. He mentioned the introduction of a digital census under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, marking a first for the country.
In the initial phase, activities related to house listing and housing census will be carried out, with the public having the option of self-enumeration from May 7 to May 21, 2026. Subsequently, census personnel will conduct door-to-door listing as part of field operations. The second phase will involve individual enumeration, including caste enumeration for the first time, along with the inclusion of forest villages in the census process.
