Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the energy department to ensure uninterrupted power supply throughout the state, addressing both rural and urban areas due to rising demand and extreme heat. He emphasized enhancing accountability and consumer focus within the power distribution system. The Chief Minister’s directives followed a review of power supply arrangements in the presence of Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma and Minister of State Kailash Singh Rajput, along with Energy Department and Power Corporation officials.
Adityanath stressed the need for a stronger, modern, and reliable transmission network to minimize technical disruptions during the summer season. The state’s power transmission corporation currently operates over 60,858 circuit kilometers of transmission lines with a high availability rate of 99.30% and reduced transmission losses at 3.2%. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of fixing feeder-wise accountability to address issues like transformer breakdowns and feeder disruptions.
With a significant surge in temperature elevating power consumption demand, the average daily demand met rose from 501 million units to 561 million units between April and May. Adityanath emphasized the development of a long-term energy strategy to meet future demands effectively. He also instructed officials to ensure prompt and accurate information dissemination in case of power disruptions, aiming to enhance consumer confidence and responsiveness towards complaints.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister directed the inspection of helpline call centers by Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma and Minister of State Kailash Singh Rajput to review operational readiness. Adityanath emphasized the importance of communication and transparency in strengthening consumer trust and improving billing and collection efficiency. He highlighted the significance of electricity supply in various aspects of citizens’ lives, agriculture, commerce, and industrial growth, stressing the need for continuous monitoring and prompt complaint resolution.
