A Special POCSO Court in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda has sentenced a government junior engineer and his wife to death for sexually assaulting 33 children. The couple faced charges under the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act, including unnatural offences and using children for pornographic purposes. The court emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating that the convicts’ actions warranted the ultimate judicial deterrent.
The convicted engineer enticed victims with online video games, money, and gifts over a decade. The court ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to compensate each victim with Rs 10 lakh and distribute seized cash among them equally. The case, investigated by the CBI, revealed aggravated penetrative sexual assaults on male children as young as three years old.
The victims suffered physical and psychological trauma, with some sustaining injuries during the assaults. The perpetrators operated in Banda and Chitrakoot from 2010 to 2020, causing long-lasting effects on the victims. The CBI ensured the emotional well-being of the minors during examinations and collaborated with experts for evidence preservation.
