Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has firmly opposed the practice of offering ‘namaz’ on public roads, stating that such activities will not be allowed in the state. He warned of strict action against those causing traffic disruptions or law and order issues during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. Dhami emphasized the importance of conducting religious practices at designated places like mosques and Eidgahs to avoid inconveniencing others.
The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the Char Dham Yatra, with thousands of pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand for the pilgrimage. He stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring smooth traffic flow and upholding law and order during this period. Dhami reiterated that public roads should not be used for religious purposes or any activities that hinder public movement, especially during the pilgrimage season.
Dhami expressed concerns over the administrative challenges posed by the influx of pilgrims and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that disrupt public movement. He underscored the importance of respecting all religions while emphasizing that no individual or group is exempt from following the law. Dhami urged individuals to practice their religious rituals at designated places to maintain public order and prevent inconvenience to others.
The Chief Minister criticized opposition parties for politicizing issues and playing vote-bank politics. He called for a more principled approach that transcends appeasement and political calculations, especially in matters concerning Uttarakhand’s cultural and religious ethos. Dhami affirmed his government’s commitment to safeguarding the peace, culture, and discipline of Uttarakhand, describing the state as a land of spiritual and religious significance.
