Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami initiated the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 from Tanakpur, commencing the annual pilgrimage via the Lipulekh route. The first group of 49 pilgrims embarked on their journey towards Lipulekh Gunji. The Chief Minister greeted the pilgrims with traditional customs, wishing them a safe and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
The initial batch includes 49 devotees from various regions of India. CM Dhami emphasized the spiritual importance of Uttarakhand, referring to it as the land of Lord Shiva. He expressed pride in hosting devotees and ensuring a comfortable and memorable experience during their sacred journey. The Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) has made all necessary arrangements for the pilgrims’ reception and accommodation.
A total of 10 groups of pilgrims are scheduled to depart from Tanakpur over the next 18 days for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. District Magistrate Manish Kumar instructed officials to enhance facilities and ensure seamless arrangements for the pilgrims. CM Dhami mentioned that 49 devotees are embarking on the journey, emphasizing the significance of the pilgrimage and the state’s commitment to a safe and smooth experience for all participants.
Among the pilgrims, 21-year-old Harikrishan from Gujarat, the youngest member of the first group, expressed his joy and excitement for the pilgrimage. Kanchan from Jaipur shared her happiness, having fulfilled her dream of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra after completing the pilgrimage of 12 Jyotirlingas. Reena Suman from Bengaluru, who completed the Char Dham Yatra in 2025, expressed hope for a safe and smooth journey for all participants with Lord Shiva’s blessings.
