Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a visit to the home of retired Army officer Brigadier V.K. Joshi, who tragically lost his life to a stray bullet on March 30 in Dehradun. Expressing his condolences to the grieving family, CM Dhami assured that stringent measures would be taken against the perpetrators. He emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining public safety and announced the initiation of Operation Strike to tackle disruptive elements.
The fatal incident occurred during a dispute between occupants of two vehicles in the Rajpur area, leading to gunfire. Brigadier Joshi, who was innocently out for a morning walk, sustained severe injuries in the crossfire and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his wounds during treatment. The tragedy sparked criticism from the Congress party, blaming the BJP-led government for the breakdown of law and order in the state.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also condemned the incident, denouncing it as a sign of the deteriorating security situation in Uttarakhand. He lamented the vulnerability of citizens, including those who have served the nation, attributing the unrest to the governance under the BJP. Gandhi highlighted the shift from a peaceful environment to one marred by violence and fear, calling for accountability and a restoration of safety for all residents.
