After much anticipation and intense lobbying, V.D. Satheesan has been selected as the 13th Chief Minister of Kerala by the Congress high command. The decision was announced in Delhi by senior Congress leaders Deepadas Munshi, Mukul Wasnik, and Ajay Maken.
This choice marks a significant shift in Kerala’s political landscape, symbolizing the emergence of a new generation in leadership. Satheesan’s political journey has been characterized by his strong performances in the Assembly and dedicated organizational work, rather than traditional factional politics.
Born in Kochi and set to turn 62 soon, Satheesan’s selection reflects the Congress party’s efforts to revitalize itself in Kerala following a period of internal divisions and electoral setbacks. Known for his sharp debating skills and assertive stance against the Left, Satheesan has established himself as a prominent figure in anti-Left politics in the state.
