Amid intense heatwave conditions in Vaishali, all academic and non-academic activities for children up to Class 8 have been halted until May 31. The District Magistrate, Varsha Singh, issued the directive to prioritize children’s health and safety during the escalating heatwave. Both government and private schools up to Class 8, as well as pre-schools and Anganwadi Centres, will remain closed as per the order.
The District Magistrate emphasized strict adherence to the directive by all school administrations, prohibiting any gatherings of children on school premises during this period. Additionally, the Education Department, Police Department, Health Department, and Block Development Officers have been notified about the enforcement of this measure. Varsha Singh assured that the administration is actively monitoring children’s health and has instructed educational institutions to reschedule postponed activities for a later time.
In light of the heatwave, health experts are advising parents to keep children indoors during peak afternoon hours to prevent heatstroke and dehydration. Parents are encouraged to ensure children have sufficient fluid intake, including water, ORS, and lemon water, and to provide light meals in the extreme heat. The administration recommends immediate medical attention at the nearest health center for children displaying signs of dehydration or heatstroke to mitigate health risks.
Officials have implemented these preventive measures to safeguard children from the ongoing heatwave and minimize health hazards in Vaishali. Meanwhile, temperatures in various districts of Bihar, including Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Rohtas, Arwal, Jehanabad, and the state capital, Patna, are persisting above 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.
