Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje highlighted the importance of humanity over political differences during a speech at the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly’s 75th Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in Jaipur. Raje recalled a moment when she visited the Congress office after the passing of former MP Abrar Ahmed, emphasizing that compassion should transcend political boundaries. She praised the era where ideological disparities did not hinder mutual respect, citing instances of bipartisan attention during legislative sessions.
Reflecting on historical examples, Raje drew parallels between the relationships of prominent figures like Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Haridev Joshi to emphasize the significance of respect in politics. She also commended past leaders like P.V. Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee for prioritizing national interests over party politics. Expressing concerns about the current political environment, Raje criticized the growing trend of vendetta-driven politics and the decline in the quality of public discourse. She called for a return to healthy debates, mutual respect, and democratic values among legislators.
Raje lauded Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for introducing the ‘One State, One Election’ initiative and reflected on her own governance achievements, including initiatives like women’s reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions, continuous domestic power supply, and various developmental projects aimed at empowering the people of Rajasthan.
