A day after being named Kerala’s next Chief Minister, VD Satheesan emphasized the state’s secular nature, pledging to combat any “hate campaigns.” He accused the BJP of fostering divisive agendas in Kerala.
Satheesan declared, “Kerala’s recent election outcome reaffirms our state’s secular ethos.” He stressed the importance of preserving Kerala’s secular identity amidst ideological clashes between the BJP and Congress.
Addressing concerns over rising fuel prices, Satheesan assured that the UDF government would assess the impact on Kerala post-assuming office. He highlighted the need to mitigate the effects on society and the economy within their means.
Regarding the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak, Satheesan stated plans to propose solutions while clarifying that the exam falls under national jurisdiction. He discussed proposals to address the issue with relevant authorities.
After meeting with senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, Satheesan expressed gratitude for his blessings and support. He acknowledged Chennithala’s mentorship and indicated a harmonious relationship between them.
As Satheesan prepares to be sworn in as Kerala’s 13th Chief Minister on May 18, the decision on Chennithala’s inclusion in the Cabinet will be determined by the party’s deliberations.
