A road accident on the Palanpur-Deesa highway near Kushkal Patiya in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district has stirred controversy. Allegations suggest that a car associated with Congress MP Geniben Thakor hit a motorcyclist and left the scene, leaving the young rider critically injured. Despite the presence of the MP and others in the vehicle, it did not stop after the collision.
The injured youth was found unconscious at the accident site for nearly three hours before being taken to Palanpur Civil Hospital. Doctors have classified his condition as serious, and he is currently receiving medical care. Family members claim that photos and videos taken at the scene were erased by the MP and her companions, raising concerns about potential evidence tampering.
The victim’s brother expressed that their immediate focus is on ensuring proper medical treatment for the injured youth. He mentioned that legal action will be considered once the youth’s condition stabilizes, emphasizing the family’s pursuit of justice. Additionally, they accused the MP of not visiting the injured youth promptly after the incident, only meeting him at the hospital the next day.
MP Geniben Thakor has refuted the accusations, stating that her vehicle was not involved in the accident. She clarified that the incident occurred when a 16-year-old boy hit stray cattle and fell in front of her vehicle. Thakor asserted that CCTV footage from the location supports her account, showing the boy colliding with the cattle independently.
Thakor emphasized that she visited the injured boy at the hospital out of humanitarian concern. She mentioned meeting him to inquire about his health and offering to cover his medical expenses, highlighting that the boy is a minor from a laborer family. Police authorities have not released an official statement on the matter or the allegations, with further investigation pending.
