People in Venezuela are grateful for the Indian medical team operating at a field hospital set up under ‘Operation Amistad’ to treat those impacted by recent earthquakes. The Ministry of External Affairs has shared images and videos on the social media platform X, showcasing individuals receiving medical care at the hospital and expressing their positive experiences with the assistance provided.
A local resident narrated a story about a patient who sustained injuries during the earthquake, praising the medical support received at the hospital as “excellent.” The patient, with a double fibula fracture, was scheduled for surgery that evening, highlighting the prompt and quality care provided to earthquake victims.
India initiated ‘Operation Amistad’ to aid Venezuela after severe earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 struck on June 24, resulting in over 2,000 fatalities and extensive destruction nationwide. The Indian Army’s Field Hospital continues its humanitarian mission, as depicted in images shared by the MEA showing individuals undergoing treatment at the facility.
In a video shared by the MEA, a patient expressed gratitude for the treatment received at the hospital for an arm injury, stating relief from pain post-operation. The patient commended the doctors for their work and affirmed the quality of care provided at the hospital.
The humanitarian aid dispatched by India reached Venezuela on June 28, with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressing confidence that the Field Hospital Unit, relief supplies, medicines, and medical equipment will enhance ongoing post-earthquake relief endeavors in the country.
