Venezuela’s Transport Ministry has announced the resumption of the mass-transit rail service in Los Teques, making it the final transit system to restart post the recent earthquakes. The Los Teques Metro, linking Miranda state’s capital with Caracas, underwent assessments and checks before reopening following the seismic activity. Additionally, the railway systems connecting Caracas with Valles del Tuy and the Valencia Metro are back to normal operations, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Jordan, in collaboration with Qatar, has sent humanitarian, medical, and food aid to Venezuela to aid in the earthquake relief efforts. The Jordanian Armed Forces, under King Abdullah II’s directives, dispatched a Qatari C-17 military transport aircraft carrying 26 tonnes of specialized medical supplies, equipment, and essential food items to Caracas. This aid also includes support for the Jordan International Search and Rescue Team, which initiated relief operations in Venezuela.
Following the earthquakes that struck Venezuela, causing significant damage to infrastructure, another Qatari aircraft is set to depart from Amman with similar humanitarian assistance. The earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.5 and 7.2, primarily impacted the north of Caracas, resulting in a death toll of 2,295 people, with many still missing. The relief efforts continue as the country deals with the aftermath of the natural disasters.
