Veteran lyricist Sameer Anjaan shared that the famous hook line ‘Aa Aa Ee Ee Oo… Mera Dil Na Todo’ from Govinda’s hit song in the 1994 film ‘Raja Babu’ was born out of a creative block. The song’s makers struggled to find an opening line and eventually settled for whatever fit into the tune. Sameer discussed the song’s creation on an episode of ‘Indian Idol’ with music composer duo Anand–Milind.

Anand also explained how the catchy ‘Aa Aa Ee Ee Oo…’ hook was conceived. He recalled suggesting to Sameer to play around with the sounds of Hindi alphabet letters when they couldn’t come up with words. This playful experimentation led to the creation of the now-iconic hook line.

During the conversation, it was noted that songs like ‘Tu Tu Tu Tu Tara’ and ‘Hai Hukku Hai Hukku Hai Hai’ also followed a similar pattern of using seemingly nonsensical words that turned into massive hits. Anand highlighted that despite lacking specific meanings, such songs often resonated well with audiences and became superhits.
