Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan spoke at Sikkim’s 51st Statehood Day celebrations in Gangtok, emphasizing the inclusive development vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047.” He praised the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region for enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in the North-East, including expanding railway and heliport facilities.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Sikkim for the State’s 50th year of Statehood celebrations, projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore were launched, as highlighted by the Vice President. He also mentioned PM Modi’s “Act East, Act Fast” vision, positioning Sikkim as a crucial part of the “Ashtalakshmi” of the North-East.
The Vice President extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on their Statehood Day, acknowledging the remarkable journey of the Himalayan State over the past 50 years. He lauded Sikkim as a model of harmony between nature, culture, and governance, emphasizing the State’s green, organic, and clean character.
Reflecting on his experiences during a road journey in Sikkim, the Vice President praised the disciplined and compassionate nature of the locals. He emphasized the importance of good thoughts and harmonious living in strengthening both individuals and society, noting Sikkim’s role as an exemplar of such harmony.
Paying tribute to the first Chief Minister of Sikkim, Kazi Lhendup Dorjee, the Vice President hailed him as a visionary leader who navigated Sikkim through a significant democratic transition with wisdom and commitment.
