Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan is set to visit Sikkim for the Statehood Day Celebrations in Gangtok, marking his first official visit to the region since taking office. This visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent trip to Gangtok to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood. During the Prime Minister’s visit, he launched various development projects totaling around Rs 4,000 crore and engaged in a friendly football match with local youngsters.
Prime Minister Modi also participated in a two-kilometre-long cultural roadshow in Gangtok, where he interacted with Padma awardees and prominent figures from diverse fields. The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of engaging with individuals who have made significant contributions across various sectors. This interaction aimed to recognize the efforts of grassroots contributors, innovators, and individuals vital to the nation-building process.
During the discussions, which covered topics such as development, culture, innovation, education, and social welfare, participants shared their insights and suggestions with the Prime Minister. The event brought together Padma awardees, social workers, artists, academicians, sportspersons, and other achievers, highlighting their service and excellence in their respective domains. Prime Minister Modi’s engagement with these individuals underscores his commitment to acknowledging and supporting those who have positively impacted society.
