Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated a conference focusing on transforming tribal lives through science and technology at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event, titled ‘Transformation of Tribal Lives through Science and Technological Interventions – Preserving Language, Faith and Culture,’ was organized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with NECTAR and ITITI Doon Sanskriti School, Dehradun.
In his address, the Vice President emphasized the importance of integrating modern innovation with traditional wisdom. He highlighted the conference’s demonstration of the synergy between scientific advancements and traditional knowledge, emphasizing their role in protection and empowerment when combined with language, faith, and culture.
Vice President Radhakrishnan underscored the significant presence of tribal communities in India, comprising nearly 9% of the population across approximately 1.4 lakh tribal villages. He praised the rich traditional knowledge systems within these communities, emphasizing their contribution to biodiversity conservation and sustainable forest resource management.
