Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan honored the late Major General (Retd.) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, in Dehradun. Khanduri, aged 91, passed away in Dehradun, with his final rites scheduled in Haridwar with full state honors. Radhakrishnan praised Khanduri as an exceptional leader with a lasting impact on India’s road infrastructure.
Several leaders, including Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, paid their respects to Khanduri in Dehradun. CM Dhami expressed deep admiration for Khanduri’s guidance and values, highlighting his influence and dedication to public service. Khanduri’s mortal remains were later brought to the state BJP office for people to pay their final respects.
Born on October 1, 1934, in Dehradun, Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri served as Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister in two terms, from 2007 to 2009 and 2011 to 2012. His military career spanned 36 years, including service in the Indian Army’s Corps of Engineers. Khanduri’s transition to politics saw him win multiple Lok Sabha elections and serve as a Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways.
