Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan is set to visit Sikkim on Saturday for the Statehood Day Celebrations in Gangtok. This visit marks his first to Sikkim since taking office. Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Gangtok to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood. During his visit, PM Modi launched various development projects totaling around Rs 4,000 crore and engaged in a football session with local youngsters.
PM Modi also shared photos of his football session in Gangtok, expressing his enjoyment of the game with the young participants. Additionally, he conducted a two-kilometre cultural roadshow in Gangtok, where residents warmly welcomed him, showcasing their enthusiasm by waving the tricolour and donning traditional attire. The Prime Minister also had a meaningful interaction with Padma awardees and distinguished personalities from diverse fields.
The interaction with Padma awardees and achievers aimed to recognize their contributions to various sectors and foster a dialogue on important issues. This engagement reflects PM Modi’s commitment to acknowledging grassroots innovators and individuals pivotal to the nation’s progress. Discussions during the meeting encompassed topics such as development, culture, innovation, education, social welfare, and youth opportunities. Participants shared their insights and recommendations with the Prime Minister, emphasizing collaboration for national advancement.
