Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, speaking at the ninth Convocation of JNU, encouraged fresh graduates to utilize their knowledge for the betterment of the nation. He emphasized the importance of education and training in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India by 2047.
Radhakrishnan highlighted the need for education to focus on character-building, intellectual growth, and self-reliance, beyond just obtaining degrees. He urged the graduates to embrace intellectual honesty, social inclusion, and active participation in national development as core responsibilities.
Referring to India’s rich tradition of learning, the Vice-President underscored the significance of blending modern scientific knowledge with traditional values. He praised JNU for fostering an inclusive environment that promotes equity and social inclusion in student admissions and faculty recruitment.
Recognizing the university’s efforts in expanding academic horizons, Radhakrishnan commended the establishment of new centers for Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist Studies at the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies. He also appreciated JNU’s initiatives to promote Indian languages and knowledge creation in regional languages as per the National Education Policy.
