Several videos from Pakistan featuring Islamic religious programs have emerged, reportedly containing objectionable comments about the Sikh community and its Gurus. In one video, a Pakistani cleric claims that Guru Nanak Dev Ji embraced Islam, was buried in Baghdad by Muslims, and a grave was built there, insinuating that Sikhs lacked the courage to conduct his funeral. This assertion has sparked strong reactions from Sikhs globally.
The same cleric suggested that following Guru Nanak’s alleged conversion, concerns arose among Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Maharaja Ranjit Singh about the safety of Sikhism, leading to the creation of what he termed as “false and fabricated history.” These statements have triggered outrage among Sikhs worldwide. Other videos reportedly show Mufti Tariq Masood Deobandi and Maulana Professor Muhammad Suleman, also known as Hafiz Pir Muhammad Suleman Misbahi Alkhadmi, making derogatory remarks about Sikhs and their Gurus, with the videos being widely shared on social media.
According to reports, these videos contain hateful comments and derogatory terms towards the Sikh community, along with assertions that Sikhs will eventually be compelled to embrace Islam. Similar controversial statements have been made in the past by some religious figures in Pakistan. Gunjeet Singh Bakhshi, from Sikh Brotherhood International, has called on the Indian government to address this issue at an international level and take action against those responsible. Meanwhile, members of the Pakistani Sikh community have anonymously urged various Sikh committees to pursue legal action against the clerics accused of making offensive remarks about Sikhs and their faith.
