Vietnamese President To Lam visited Bodh Gaya, the site of Lord Buddha’s enlightenment, and offered prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary welcomed President To Lam to Gayaji for a three-day visit to India. In 2011, To Lam planted a Bodhi tree at the Phat Tich Pagoda in Bac Ninh, sourced from Bodh Gaya.
The Bihar CM expressed optimism that the visit would enhance bilateral relations between India and Vietnam. President To Lam, also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, is on his first visit to India since assuming office earlier this month.
President To Lam will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan on May 6 and engage in discussions with Prime Minister Modi on various bilateral, regional, and global matters. President Droupadi Murmu is also scheduled to meet with the Vietnamese leader.
