Actor-turned politician TVK President Vijay and BJP leader Annamalai have criticized the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu for its handling of women’s safety. Vijay expressed concern over recent violent crimes in the state, particularly highlighting the brutal murder of a 17-year-old girl in Vilathikulam. The incident has sparked public outrage, with demands for swift action and justice.
Vijay also mentioned another distressing case near Madhuranthakam, where a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and left in a forest. The victim managed to walk nearly 10 kilometers to a police station the next morning to report the crime. Questioning the government’s law and order management, Vijay called for an explanation from the Chief Minister on the safety of women and children in Tamil Nadu.
The TVK leader listed several other recent incidents, including violent attacks in different parts of the state and cases of sexual assault. He criticized the government for what he perceived as a lack of focus on public safety compared to political interests. Vijay emphasized that these crimes have significantly undermined public trust in the state’s law enforcement system.
Former BJP state president K. Annamalai also condemned the government, citing a recent case of a college student from Tiruchirappalli being abducted and sexually assaulted in Chennai. He highlighted the proximity of this incident to the Chief Minister’s residence, linking it to the broader deterioration of law and order under the current administration.
