Makers drop first-look poster of Vijay Sethupathi starrer as film enters post-production phase ahead of pan-India release

Vijay Sethupathi fans received a birthday treat on January 16, 2026, as the makers of his upcoming film unveiled its title and first-look poster. The film, titled Slum Dog 33 Temple Road, features the actor in a never-seen-before gritty avatar that has immediately captured audience attention.

The first-look poster presents Sethupathi in a rugged appearance with wild hair and a thick beard. Dressed in beggar-like attire complemented by boots and a flowing scarf, the actor is shown wielding a giant sickle while bundles of cash fly around him in a foggy slum backdrop. The intense visual aligns with the film’s dark tone and its tagline, 33 Temple Road.

Film Details and Cast

Slum Dog 33 Temple Road is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Puri Jagannadh and jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under Puri Connects, alongside JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla of JB Motion Pictures. The film currently remains in post-production after completing principal photography.

Key cast members include:

  • Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role
  • Samyuktha as the female lead
  • Tabu in a pivotal role

Production Timeline

Filming commenced in July 2025, with major action sequences completed by October of the same year. The production team wrapped principal photography before moving into the post-production phase, where the film currently stands.

National Award-winning composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar, recognized for his work on Arjun Reddy and Animal, is composing the film’s music, adding another layer of anticipation to the project.

Pan-India Release Strategy

The makers are planning a massive pan-India release across five languages:

  • Telugu
  • Tamil
  • Kannada
  • Malayalam
  • Hindi

The production team describes Slum Dog 33 Temple Road as a “mass and commercial entertainer” that combines Puri Jagannadh’s distinctive filmmaking style with Vijay Sethupathi’s commanding screen presence.

What’s Next for Vijay Sethupathi
