All-rounder Vijay Shankar announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket, including ODIs and T20Is. Shankar, who played 12 ODIs and nine T20Is for India, expressed gratitude for his cricket journey spanning 25 years. He mentioned aiming to pursue new opportunities and play more cricket in the future.
In his retirement note, Shankar thanked the BCCI and the Indian Cricket Team for the learnings and memories. He highlighted significant moments like bowling the last over in India’s 500th ODI and taking his first wicket in the 2019 World Cup. Shankar also acknowledged his IPL teams and the support he received throughout his career.
Having played for Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Shankar reflected on the experiences that shaped him as a cricketer. He expressed gratitude to his domestic cricket teams, especially Tamil Nadu, where he captained and won various trophies. Shankar also thanked his support system, including coaches, mentors, and family, for their unwavering backing.
