Actor-turned-politician Vijay is gearing up to launch the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election campaign for his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The campaign will commence in February with a series of mass political events planned across different regions of Tamil Nadu. Vijay is scheduled to address a grand state-level conference and three major public meetings as part of the campaign kickoff.
Party sources revealed that if logistical challenges arise, TVK has a backup plan to organize five large-scale public meetings in five regions of the state. Vijay is expected to play a central role in energizing the party cadre and connecting with voters by personally attending and speaking at these events. The campaign strategy was recently finalized during a meeting between TVK’s chief coordinator, K.A. Sengottaiyan, and members of the party’s election campaign committee.
During the discussions, the focus was on region-specific mobilization, messaging, and addressing on-ground challenges encountered by the party during its organizational expansion. District secretaries highlighted difficulties in obtaining official permissions for gatherings and distributing pamphlets. Sengottaiyan advised them to escalate such issues to senior district officials or state-level party functionaries for political attention.
In addition to the campaign launch, TVK plans to celebrate its second anniversary at the party’s Panaiyur office in Chennai. Vijay is expected to participate in this event and address party functionaries, aiming to strengthen the party cadre in preparation for the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, TVK Deputy General Secretary C.T. Nirmal Kumar criticized the AIADMK, stating that the real political competition in the state lies between the DMK and TVK. He emphasized that AIADMK’s focus on TVK instead of DMK is unwarranted. With these upcoming events, TVK is gearing up for an active campaign, positioning itself as a significant contender in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape leading up to 2026.
