In a new development in the ongoing marital discord involving actor Vijay and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief, his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam has approached a court in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. Sangeetha has requested legal protection and the right to live in their Neelankarai residence, alleging that she has been prevented from staying there and is currently homeless. She has asked the court to direct Vijay to allow her to continue residing in the property.
Sangeetha claimed in her plea that she is facing threats from Vijay’s legal representatives, which have hindered her access to the house despite her assertion of equal ownership. The Neelankarai house is stated to be jointly owned, with Sangeetha asserting her entitlement to 50% ownership. She has urged the court to recognize her right to stay in the residence until the legal matters between them are settled.
Seeking financial support for herself and their children, Sangeetha has requested alimony from Vijay in proportion to his income. The petition emphasizes that Vijay should ensure adequate maintenance for the family, considering his financial status and earnings. This legal action follows Sangeetha’s divorce filing in the Chengalpattu family court, where she accused Vijay of an extramarital affair and his refusal to agree to a mutual separation.
Legal experts anticipate that the court will address issues regarding residence rights, property ownership, and interim financial assistance during the divorce proceedings. The case has garnered attention due to Vijay’s stature as a leading actor in Tamil cinema and the founder of TVK, a political party gaining prominence in Tamil Nadu politics.
