Vinesh Phogat has addressed the show-cause notice from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), denying accusations of rule breaches and clarifying the timeline of her break from wrestling. The WFI had accused the three-time Olympian of indiscipline and rule violations, leading to her being deemed “ineligible” for competitions until at least June 26.
In a detailed statement shared on social media, Phogat contested the WFI’s claims about her return-to-play schedule, stating that she was approved by the International Testing Agency (ITA) to resume activities on January 1, 2026.
The notice alleged that Phogat did not comply with the UWW Anti-Doping Rules, specifically Article 5.7, which mandates a retired athlete to provide six months’ notice before returning to competition and be available for testing during that period.
